Dedicated to providing a better future for all people...

Stubshaw Cross Residents’ Group meet on the first Tuesday of each month ….
Come along and and help to make a difference.

Stubshaw Cross Park

In April 2003 came news that our area could benefit from funding from the New Opportunities Fund, available only to community groups in former coalfield communities. What could we achieve to make a positive difference to our neighbourhood? The Group decided on a project to improve our bland open space, described as a recreation area, into an attractive park for all sectors of the community.

Stubshaw Cross Park - Enclosed Play Area

From being a place where people passed through, they now stop, the attraction being the best neighbourhood park in Ashton and Bryn as evidenced by a Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents report dated 18th January, 2005. Stubshaw Cross is well and truly on the map.

Stubshaw Cross park continues to be well used by our local community and we have recently completed a 7th consecutive annual Summer Activities Scheme for children. Our Group has secured funding each year since 2004 for this event which takes place during the first two weeks in August. The park is also the venue for our Christmas Carol Service and tree lighting ceremony which has been held each year since 2004. (Full commendation)

Projects

Park Regeneration

This has been a great success with many people of all ages making use of the facilities including small childrens’ play area and a multi-sports area.

Heritage Garden

The garden has been completed, replacing what had become an eyesore with a place for people to enjoy.
